September 20 oooh.....A1.......Not Steak Sauce Silly! Finally! My first A1 Patent! I've always been curious about this one as I've always pictured it as being this BIG bulky corkscrew, but it's actually quite small. It's still got about 95% of it's original chrome plating. How cool is that! I hear that these are pretty common and I see them all the time online, but for me it's the thrill of the hunt! Considering the last one offered to me was an asking price of $250, scoring one of these babies for under $100 online is good enough for me! Any bids out there? 150...175...200...? September 18 Flash me Again!Well, Flash Corkscrews are showing some promise in sales this past week. A couple hit the high $70's and an average of about $50. I've been fortunate to snap up a few here and there for good prices though. I think I'm liking them for myself now. But the latest addition to my Flash Collection is a NYC Statue Of Liberty. It's in great shape and I look forward to our first date! FYI - for $70 you could have a first date with her too. September 17 Neiman Marcus.....Why notThough I can't afford Neiman Marcus clothing, I couldn't help my self when I saw a bar set listed. It is a 3 piece set with a cheese knife, bottle opener and an open frame locking handle type corkscrew. There are two stickers - "Made in Italy" and "Neiman Marcus". I deserve some of the finer things in life once in a while right? It's not only a corkscrew......it's Neimans! September 11 Good Night KnightWell, it looks like the Knight is gone for now. I guess I will have to keep scouring Antique Shops in Indiana for hopes of a $5 Knight Corkscrew. On another note I received my first Wier Patent! It's fully marked and has a lot of it's original copper plating left. Unfortunately, I see Ebay in it's near future. I'm open to off line offers! September 09 SYROCO KNIGHT!!I may be the first to report, but not the first to bid. A Syroco Knight has been listed, but without his body! He must have been in some battle if he lost his body. Feel free to bid away, but I know I'm going for the GOLD! Flash MeThis lot of corkscrews arrived recently. It was a very nice deal of 3 flashes and a Chip Chop. The coolest one has a badge on the sheath advertising "Union Station Chicago". Though the days of selling a flash on ebay for $200+ are over, there is still this lingering attraction for me. Got any to sell? September 06 "Outside the box"A few issues back, in "The Weekly Screw", an interesting corkscrew "go with" was mentioned. Reference was made to a large hand carved figurine that would open like a box to reveal a wine bottle. I thought "That's pretty cool!" Though I haven't quit my day job to find every angle, in search of these wine holders, I did get lucky the other day. Yet another avenue to enhance my screwy addiction. |
