    Marked, but unmarked

I've always liked roundlets.  They are pocket sized, so you can show them off, or use them, any time any where.  I saw this decorated corkscrew online and since I've never had a decorated one before, I decided to go for it.  Decorated ones are usually Sterling Silver, but no where in the description did it mention what it was made of.  Well it arrived yesterday, and though it's not marked, I'm pretty sure it's silver!!!   How Cool!  It does have a makers mark pictured below.  Does anyone know who this is?  I'd like to send them a Thank You card.

    Sexy Legs

I LOVE legs!  Long legs, smooth legs, crispy chicken legs, and especially Corkscrew Legs!  This is my first two-toned pair I've owned.  Very cool Mother of Pearl and Pink/White strips.  Even though it has the wire worm, legs are legs right?

    A Clean Sweep

As a Syroco corkscrew lover, I'm always looking for any type of variation of the Figurines featured as corkscrews.  The clothes brushes are very attractive as they are often overlooked.  Here are two that I recently acquired.  I've never had the Laughing Man and I've never even seen the Schnauzer in a brush form, let alone on the top of a handle, and on a whisk broom.  Very cool!

    Half Bottle for Half Price

I've been looking for a replacement handle for some time now for a King's screw that I have. I was alerted to a Thomason auction that had a Buy It Now for $100, but it had the worst picture I've ever seen! (cool, I just added the picture from the auction! Can you believe that this was the listing photo!!) Well, I snapped up the BIN and crossed my fingers. What actually arrived was somewhat of a mystery. It was a Thomason, but just a bit smaller. I was aware of the Half Bottle Type Thomason, but never actually owned one. After a couple emails, pics, and measurements, it was official. A Half Bottle Thomason, for Half the price.

    Small Flash

Flash sales have been up and down for the past 9 months. I must admit that I hold the record sale of $225.83 for a Stuebenville, Ohio with a picture of an Indian, as reported in the most recent JFO issue, but without mention of the Seller - Syrocokid. I'm still getting lucky here and there, but this one was pretty peculiar. It's a Bakelite handle with a scenic view of a railroad through a valley. "Incline Railway Lookout Mt., Tenn." This is the first I've seen that is not made of wood. Has anyone seen this type of flash before? P.S. It's only an opener :-(

    Big Stag!

This is really a BIG Stag Horn corkscrew! Won recently for a reasonable amount, I think I got a great price per pound on this one. Though it's nothing to write home about, it's just Freakin Huge! You can see the Flash I put next it for a little comparison. Anyone got one bigger? How big is your screw?!!

    New Editions!

Last month I purchased some books from Ferd Peters. He recently published a book called Pocket Corkscrews and Pocketknives and is well known for his Mechanical Corkscrews book. I believe that the Pocket Corkscrews book is in VERY limited supply as it came with a numbered certificate (no.81 out of 100) that was signed by both authors, obviously Ferd and the other Bert Giulian. The Mechanicals book was personally signed to me! :-) How cool! I'm really eager to start reading and tearing through the books, but they are in brand new condition, so I don't want them to get ruined. What to do.... My Ultimate Corkscrew book by Bull was a hand-me-down from Josef, and probably acquired by him in second rate condition. Ahhhh how well loved, used, and valued Bull's book is. My first love and MOST referenced.

    Christmas in July

Well July may be over, and Christmas is not for another 5 months, but Santa has arrived at my doorstep! I just love screwy gifts from the postman!
