    Misc Lots

I'm a fair collector.  I chase after all types of corkscrews, but always looking for a deal.  Here are a couple of stragglers that went overlooked or just passed over.  Sorry, no Austrian pieces here, but one should be in route....

    P.S.
What's wrong with the James Heeley & Son's double lever?  There were 5 listed today!  Surely one will slip through.....wish me luck!

It may be silver, but not Sterling

Today was spent on the mainland hunting again for corkscrews.  I went back to the little honey hole I discovered last week.  I was able to hit 5 additional malls/shops that were passed on last week.  Today netted 2 Negbaur Pieces.  A Feathered Parrot and a Turning Head Old Snifter.  Both are in great shape, but I worry about the snifter as his head is very stiff.  Still trying to get it to turn.

    Score!!!!

I knew today was going to be good!  I spent the afternoon in Port Townsend hunting.  At first I came across a few Anri stoppers, and then a Brevette Perfect Lazy Tong's.  I knew I was getting close.  Next was a James Heeley Double lever.  Now prices were about 3 times what you would pay on Ebay, but I was just happy to SEE some items.  Then at my last stop for the day, there he was tucked away in the case.  A Syroco Stained Clown!  I quickly paid the full asking price and hit the road.  A bargain at $45!  It is days like this that keep you in the game!

    The Converse

Today I got a two prong cork puller.  It's a Converse patent that is fully marked on the collar.  But what makes it even nicer is that it has some advertising on the sheath.  It reads "Lehmann's Rye Arthur Lehmann & Co Peoria, ILL."  Very cool.  Sorry J!  Too bad it doesn't have a whistle like some of the others selling on Ebay.

    Thanks RL!

I didn't get to do a whole lot of Ebay today, as I was out hunting again today.  Another 10 "new" locations covered, but no corkscrews to be found.  I'm beginning to think Washington was a "DRY" state for a long time!  They must not have received the news in 1933 when the 18th amendment was repealed.  Hence, no corkscrews!

    But.....

When I got home, there was a nice BIN all set up for me......  Thanks RL!  Yes, I owe you one.....  You made my day!  I really love 2 for 1 deals!

    LOTS of corkscrews

It's not every day that you get USPS, DHL, and UPS all at your doorstep with deliveries of corkscrews.  Fortunately, today was one of those days.
The latest arrivals include, a Brass crouching monkey, a Syroco Clock, and a very large box of corkscrews!  125 to be exact.  They aren't really anything special, but should make for some fun advertising / giveaways.  At  28¢ each, why not?!

    Making Progress....

I spent the day shipping the past weeks sales, class at the Apple Store, and then an afternoon hunting new grounds.  I found myself in Everett, WA also home to Boeing's 747 factory.  No time to see the planes as I was determined to find my golden knight!  I did happen upon a sad German Rack & Pinion with a broken screw, but something told me I was heading in the right direction.  Next stop Snohomish, WA!  When I got there, it was clear that I had found the end of the rainbow.  Now all I needed to do was find the pot of golden knights!  In the little downtown strip is about 20 Antique shops!  There are about 7 real Malls.  I only had time for 3 today.  I did come across some common pieces, and at least 6 Mah Jong Sets, but no gold yet.  I can't wait till next week's outing!

    Goodies!

I can't believe that the Hawaii Flash made it from the UK to the Island in less than a week!  5 days to be exact.  A welcome addition to the growing flash collection.  Defiantly, time for a recount and inventory as the move really got things scattered.

There are some nice pieces online right now.  Most notably, the Syroco Knight (still under a $1000!) and two items that came up this morning.  A Lund Lever in it's original box!  AND a French Corkscrew company's Salesman display piece with 12 corkscrews on it.  I'm sure these will go for big money, but I'll be sniping just in case.

Did anyone see the Clough Pocket piece with advertising sheath for "Absinthe Cusenier"?  It sold for EUR 351.00!

    Minor Updates

Well the Golden Knight is up to $775.  Just a bit outside my price range, but still a good deal for now.

I got out bid on a piece that would have made my best 6 for '08 earlier today.  It was for the Chinnock Roundlet.  I came up about $2100 short.  Goodness that civil war collector must be pretty happy with his sale.  If anyone has one of these for trade, drop me a line!

    GOLDEN KNIGHT!!

About 2 hours ago a Golden Knight was listed!  Sorry, no Buy It Now's available as the bidders are awake already.  Currently at $255.  It appears to be in great shape, with no chips or cracks.  Why couldn't mine be so nice?!  I guess I should just be grateful to even have one.  "Thank you oh Corkscrew Gods!  Thank You!"  I'm off to sacrifice a Grapevine piece now....

    YES! HAWAII!

I'm pretty excited this morning as I just won a Flash for Honolulu Hawaii!  It's fair to say that Hawaii is a hard state to find, as it's far off the mainland and exotic travel was limited way back then opposed to current times.  Kinda cool that this opener came all the way from the UK!  I can't wait till this piece arrives, let alone the rest of the booty in route.

I was able to list a few pieces yesterday.  It will be fun to watch the 2 Austrian pieces.  These are quite the hot commodity now a days.
Feel free to loose control if you decide to bid!

    A New Baby

Congratulations Josef!  No, he did not have a baby, nor did Sue.  But, Josef IS the baby!  Just ask him....

    The First and second Outing....

Sunday was spent traveling the suburbs of Seattle in search of antique malls.  I must say....slim pickin's.  I did come across one booth that had about 30 pieces featured for sale, but prices were a bit high for my taste.  I left the dealer a note, as I could only assume that he was a fellow collector.

Today was spent up North a bit.  Again, nothing.  Don't these people drink wine?!  How in the world do they open it?!  I guess I should be saying how DID THEY open it?!

On the brighter side.....I am happy to report that there are two little silver pieces in route to the Island.  Trade anyone?

    The Fireworks

Last night was pretty cool.  We took the ferry boat to Seattle right at 10pm.  We were able to see several different shows going all at once!  Here are some pics!

No corkscrews to report, but antique malls and shops are on the agenda for tomorrow!

    Happy 4th of July!

The Island folk are all VERY actively involved in community events.  Clubs, Chambers, Charitable, or Political.  Everyone likes to participate.  We went to town very hungry this morning to partake in the "All You Can Eat" Pancake Breakfast before the Bainbridge Island 4th of July Parade.  They even had a stage set up near by featuring Nelly the Performing Pig!  Instead of campaigning for Obama, the pig had a flag that read "Eat Beef".  I must admit that this small town of 23K, put on quite the parade.  Lasting longer than 1 1/2 hours!  Since there were clubs and sponsors of ALL SORTS (6 dog clubs, Class of '54, Senior Hiking Club, Bainbridge Waste Removal Services), I figured there must be a corkscrew club!  Well there was not......  Unless I plan on walking the parade by myself next year, I better start recruiting!

    Not a screw

Ever since I saw Mark's Syroco figural molds, I've kept my eye out for them.  I've come across a few over the past year or so.  One towel rack waiter, and this is my 3rd German Shepherd Head.  Although it's not a screw, it's still pretty cool.  I wonder where the rest of the molds are hiding......Clown, Indian, Knight.....
