    LOTS of packages!

On Saturday night, about 7:30 pm, we got a late delivery from the mail man, as they are still playing "catch up" from the holiday rush and weather delays.  Syrocokid Corkscrews had a lot of packages!

There was some Christmas cookies amongst the booty.  Can you guess which package they were in?

Several corkscrews arrived, including a Rousseau patent, a Perille AERO, and some ebay goodies.  AND I finally got my Nov '08 Quarterly Worme!  I love reading it and seeing all Best 6 entries.  Nice job everyone!

    Merry Christmas!

I love days like today, Food, Family, and Friends!  Merry Christmas!

    Ooooohhhhh!! Aaaaaaahhhhh!

I'm happy to report that the mail finally arrived!  Numerous packages arrived along with several Christmas cards.  I special shout out to Chrissy - Thanks for the Lou Malnati's Pizza!  If you want REAL Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza, GET LOU's!  You can also order Carson's Ribs.  THEY ARE THE BEST RIBS YOU'LL EVER HAVE!!  K, back to the corkscrews!

FLASH!  Well, a Very unique flash....  Here is a Metal Sheath type Flash Corkscrew.  It features a picture of a lady golfer and reads "Souvenir of Athens, GA."  SO COOL!!  These are pretty rare.  I've been fortunate enough to have found 2 of these in the last year.  Another collector friend, who also likes Flash types, has 11 of them.  And he has been searching for Flashes over the past 25 years!

Also amongst the mail booty, was two Williamson's, a L'Spirit Golf Peg and worm, and a Fantastic Ivory Carved Elephant Corkscrew!  I must say that the tusk is rather large (not complaining, just stating) compared to what I've seen in the past....  He was  snapped up after only being online for 3 min!  Winner! Winner! Chick'n Dinner!

    12 inches later....

No shovels, No salt, and No plowing.  We survived the worst winter storm in the last 15 years!  Although the post office is open, the truck did not come up the hill today....  Hence, no corkscrew arrivals.

BUT, negotiations have begun for the clown JL'A found!  I wonder how many Flashes he'd take.....?

    Snow, Ice, and Corkscrews.....

It's been pretty cold here on the Island.  Since there is only one plow truck spreading sand on the Island, and another storm system currently snowing, I think buying snow chains for the car was a smart move today!

There's been no mail for the past two days, but finally we got a delivery today!  2 pieces arrived.  A Chinnock Type with a copper plated frame and a simple Haff Patent, actually marked "Patent Applied For".  I will probably list on Sunday, as I need to build up funds for, hopefully, a LARGE purchase to be named later....

If you see Santa, please tell him I've been VERY GOOD this year!  kinda.....

    Apollinaris Chinnock!

Although the Postal system is flooded with packages this time of year, it seems that corkscrews in route to the Island are not.  A deal was struck a few weeks ago for this Chinnock Patent corkscrew with that guy in Arizona.  I finally got around to paying him, so that he could get around to shipping it.  I've had a few of the more common "open frame type" Chinnock's, but this piece is a brass barrel w/window type AND marked "Apollinaris".  Most likely, advertising for the German mineral water "Apollinaris".

Chirstmas is coming!  So if your interested in some nice pieces, check out Josef's current auctions by clicking here!  I wouldn't mind the Boar's Head...

Or if you want a King Corkscrew...STAY AWAY from this one!

    December 05

    Definitely not Syroco.....well 2 of 3

This was quite the arrangement when I came across it on Ebay.  I informed the seller that not all the pieces were Syroco as stated in the listing.  She begged to differ, as "you can see the wood under the paint".  I decided to let her "be right", as I'm just a silly buyer only interested in that dull rooster.  Well, she was nice back!  So if you come across a listing that looks like this, buyer beware they are not syroco!  So, remember, it does pay off to be nice!

    Screws, Screws, and more Corkscrews!

While Josef is busy selling the latest LOT of corkscrews on his website, I've been "working" every angle I can to keep up!  But I wouldn't mind getting that Boar's Head under my tree for Christmas this year.  hint hint...

Be sure to check out his site to view the corkscrews still available for sale by CLICKING HERE.

I very substantial package arrived on the island.  Included was a Diamant, Souplex, Tyr, and an L'Excelsior.  I've included a pen in the photos to give you some visiual compairson.  So often I purchase corkscrews that then when they arrive, they seem so much smaller!

    No Chinnock for me :-(

I just watched all my dreams get sniped away!  Well, dreams for this evening anyway.  I've been watching the 1862 Chinnock Patent all week, and just moments ago I WAS the high bidder, but the final seconds always tell the truth...  Anyone got a MARKED CHINNOCK to trade?!  Email me at syrocokid@gmail.com
